Preachers Who Made a Difference

by Peter Jeffery
I love to read biographies of faithful Christians. They are such an encouragment. This book here summarized the lives of 9 great preachers. Some of whom I'd never heard of and others I had heard of but knew nothing about their lives. Many of them were from England, like the author. Preachers spanning the centuries. I enjoyed learning a bit of history about the church in England.
One of the most striking examples was Hugh Latimer - burned at the stake in the mid-16th century. At his death he comforted his friend with these words, "We shall this daylight such a candle, by God's grace in England, as I trust shall never be put out."

Have you ever read "On The Missionary Trail" by Tom Hiney? It follows the biographies of missionaries from the London Missionary Society as they planted seeds of the gospel in Polynesia, Asia, and Africa. In most cases they were the first Europeans/whites ever seen in such far flung places. An interesting read. Your book blog is a great idea! Love you--Lavonne
Ooh! I love biographies of these types too. I'll have to find this one. My grandpa has so many, but maybe this could be the perfect fathers day present. then i'll borrow it afterward!
This one even comes with a CD with exerpts of sermons from most of the preachers in the book.
